Belly Casting

I started doing belly casting in 1995. I had done similar types of casting when I was completing my fine arts degree, but I've since tried different materials and finishes to some degrees of success.

A typical cast will take between 45 and 90 minutes to complete. This is the first layer. After that, I strengthen the piece with plaster and sand it smooth. I then seal it, and depending on what the client wants, I either will leave it white or paint it. It can be mounted on the wall or set up as a piece of sculpture. Price varies accordingly.

Here are a couple of examples of ones I am currently working on. The hand on the one not yet painted belongs to the mother's partner, a nice way of incorporating both parents into the piece.
